Vegan Tubeless Sealant

I recently got a gravel bike (meet Kale!) and it has tubeless compatible rims and tires! I have never tried tubeless before so I wanted to read more about it and learn more.

Seems pretty great from what I have read. Less flats, no tubes, save a bit of weight, softer ride over bumps.

But after doing tons of searching, I couldn’t find any tubeless sealants that said they were vegan! No articles on the internet, no Reddit posts, no nothing.

So I started emailing companies directly. Not many companies emailed me back, I’m not sure why. But here is who got back to me:

  1. https://us.wplbike.com/products/tire-sealant

“Our WPL products, including Tubeless Tiresealant, are made from pure plant-based. Our products have USDA BioBased certification.”

  2. https://www.effettomariposa.eu/en/products/vegetalex-bicycle-tyre-sealant/

“I confirm that Végétalex is vegan, no animal products at all in its formula.”

Side note, I couldn’t find very many reviews for this, but I did find it available on Amazon for those not in Europe.

  3. https://www.notubes.com/stan-s-tire-sealant-pint

“There are no animal products present in our sealant.”

I’m probably going to start with the NoTubes and see how it goes. It also says on their Amazon page “Made from Natural materials, safe for the environment and remains liquid 2–7 months in your tire for long-term care.”

I hope this research helps you make an ethical tubeless sealant purchase!
